Acting can be defined as the art or occupation of performing fictional roles in plays, films, or television. It can also be said to be
temporarily doing the duties of another person.I define acting as faking an identity and feeling real with it. Acting is one of the hardest and coolest things in life, if you don’t know how to act and you are learning but it seems impossible you feel bad and think it’s really hard but if you do know how to act you feel it’s really good to be acting. The most common obstacle that comes to an actor/actress in feeling uncomfortable with the role they are cast to play. What makes a good actor is being able to overcome shame and acting every role. Majid Michael, a great and admirable actor can be given as a good example of an all round actor. If you have watched his movies, you would see he doesn’t always act one role. He acts romance, love, priest, villain and so many other recognized roles. I was surprised to see a man who is know is a god when it comes to romance act and being cast as Christ. There are some certain and really important thing I would talk about here that would give you good ideas on how to act better.
Being real by feeling real: To look real in a movie, you have to
leave your real life and be whom you are asked to be. That includes letting go
of shame, if you are asked to be a fool call yourself a fool and behave like
one. In one of the interviews of Majid I read, he made a comment saying “if am
at home in a movie I feel at home, believe it’s my home, and act like it’s
really my home. If am married I accept am married to that to the actress
believe that am married to he and treat her like I’d treat my wife” wow, I was
really touched by those few words he said. So be whomever you are asked to be
and believe you are really that personality.
Practice makes perfect: To
feel real in a play, you can’t just wake up and start feeling real when you are
asked to act. To know how to feel real you have to learn how to feel real. Go
to whomever you are really comfortable with, talk to the person and ask him to
do you a favor by acting with you. Just feel free act with them don’t force
yourself to fit in while acting it would lead to over acting. Don’t be afraid
of making mistakes, make the mistakes and take corrections. To see what your
acting life looks like, do well to cover the play with a video coverage. Show
you are embraced when you fail a role, don’t feel bad it would change your
ability to fit in with what you want to do. Be careful with the kind of energy
that flows into you. Don’t let yourself feel bad when your role requires you to
feel good. I’d advise you to also act alone, do crazy things, dance and feel
good that helps to elevate the energy that helps in avoiding feeling shy while
acting.
Learn how to show feelings: Get a mirror and assume a duty, like
you are crying, sad, weak, angry, happy, proud, blushing and confused. See how
your face really looks and see how real and perfect you look. Learn how to
control the energy that flows in and be careful of the kind of energy that
flows in you. The energy of anger differs from that of sadness, happiness and
other kind of feelings.
Speech and voice loudness: One of the most important things is to
know how to use your diction. Choice of diction matters a lot and how bold and
clear your voice sounds also matters a lot too. You can be disqualified because
you do not know how to speak, even when you know what to speak. So do well to give your
time in observing how your diction sounds while talking to your friends and
how your diction sounds while acting try to make them both sound alike. Do not
act to please the director rather relax to act and focus on your role. Did you
know that, observing your audience while acting obstruct the perfect energy
that should flow through you to give a perfect play?
Learn how to be emotional and really fake a good real tears: Some
people have the ability to show they are sad while crying in a role, they can
actually be nicknamed “town criers” *winks* while some can’t show real emotion
of crying while crying in a play. If you can’t show the emotion perfectly no
matter how hard you try to make if show, you can still cry and look real even
if it’s not in you to show perfect sadness. Practice really well on how to feel
sad, relax your nerves while crying also do well to forget about your
environment and focus more on the reason why you are crying. Believe it really
happened to you.
How you
can fake tears. All you have to do is open your eyes and hold it steady, close
your palm and hold it really tight, avoid the sight of anything just look at
nothing, look into the air it’s more like looking at nothing and focusing on
the fact that you are sad. Within a few
seconds you would see tears rolling down your chin.
I HOPE THIS TIPS WOULD REALLY HELP YOU IN
DEVELOPING YOUR ACTING ABILITIES. GOOD LUCK WITH DEVELOPING YOUR SKILL, DO NOT
WAIT FOR A STAGE BEFORE YOU LEARN/ACT. WHERE YOU ARE NOW IS A GREAT STAGE.
